Hola! Last week we played at Bevrijdingsfestival Wageningen (Liberation Festival) sharing the stage with some great bands such as The Upsessions, The Asteroids Galaxy Tour, Amsterdam Klezmer Band and Mala Vita. Photographer Sander van Laar took a few nice shots to capture our show. You can view them below:

To support or not to support?
Filed under: Live gigs | March 23rd, 2012
That is the question. And in some cases the reply has to be “yes please!”
For starting bands it’s a great way to gain live experience, especially when it’s in front of a tough crowd. It’s also a good chance to introduce your music to a new audience. In our few years of existence we’ve done a couple of support shows which enabled us to share the stage with some awesome bands: Jaya The Cat, Che Sudaka, La Pegatina twice and Ojos de Brujo last December, which was truly an honor. Another thing these support shows brought us is the opportunity to play in some of the main live venues of our country, like Paradiso and Tivoli Oudegracht. All good reasons we think to say ‘yes’ to support shows.
We’re very excited to say that next month, when some of us are back from our laaaaazy holidays in Chile, we’re doing three major support shows in a row:
Apr 14 – The Beat (UK), Gebouw-T, Bergen Op Zoom
Dating way back to 1978, they became world-famous with their mixture of ska with pop, soul, reggae & punk rock.
Apr 15 – La Troba Kung-Fú (ESP), W2, Den Bosch
Project of Dusminguet-singer/accordion player Joan Garriga, one of the main characters of Spanish Mestizo.
Apr 22 – The Black Seeds (NZ), Melkweg, Melkweg
Reggae-funk heavyweights from New Zealand, presenting their album ‘Dust and Dirt’ in the Melkweg main hall.
Lucky for us we sort of blend all these music styles together, making it possible for us to support these bands. With that being said, will you come and support us???
Abrazo,
TenTemPiés

Festival update part uno
Filed under: Live gigs | March 16th, 2012
As we slowly prepare ourselves for the upcoming festival season, we can already give away the names of a few of the festivals we will be playing at. One of the main ones being Dunya Festival in Rotterdam (May 27), which recently presented their first batch of names including The Beat and Shantel & Bucovina Club Orkestar. Very cool indeed.
Another nice festival we’re attending is the Latin American Film Festival (Apr 27). We’re playing at the final fiesta at Tivoli de Helling in Utrecht and our friends from the Fiesta Macumba DJ team will be there as well. On Queensday (Apr 30) we travel to Arnhem to do a headliner performance at the FreeFall Festival. Later that week we’re playing at Bevrijdingsfestival Wageningen (May 5). Back in Amsterdam again we’re doing a show at Hemeltjelief! Festival on May 17.
So that’s our festival update for now. Keep an eye on our agenda if you want to attend one of our festival shows near you.. More will be added soon!

Sympathetic with their cause
Filed under: Live gigs | February 29th, 2012
Last Monday we did a concert at the University of Utrecht in support of the protest of the cleaners on a strike, due to the poor working conditions they are faced with. This has been an ongoing issue for quite a while now. During the strike hundreds of cleaners and some students as well were occupying the University building to call attention to this cause. National news channel NOS was there and aired a short item about it on tv. You can view it below:

Pictures: Germany Tour [Jan 2012]
Last month we set out to play some shows in Germany. It was really something else. We went from a big awesome night club with freaky decoration in Berlin to a small venue in the middle of snowy Lichtenau, to a cavern cafe for the underground scene in Chemnitz near the eastern border. We were very happy our music was received so well by our German audiences, we can’t wait to go back!
During the tour some pictures were made, most of which you can view on our Facebook band page. We uploaded a selection of those right here:

Last show of 2011: La Pegatina & TenTemPiés at Tivoli
Filed under: Live gigs | December 15th, 2011
Last weekend was amazing. We opened for Ojos de Brujo in the main concert hall of Paradiso, which was their last concert ever in Europe. It was also officially our 50th show of 2011! Proud of that! Plans are already looking good for 2012: we’re set on releasing our second single of our debut album Canto Para Gritar in Februari. Perquisite made a beautiful remix and we can’t wait to let you hear it. And there are requests coming in from some very cool summer festivals.. But before that we’ll be doing a mini tour of Germany in mid-January! More on that soon.
This Saturday the 17th of December marks our very last show of 2011 at Tivoli Oudegracht in Utrecht! We’re the support act for La Pegatina, Spanish heavyweights that had the Dutch audience wanting more and more ever since that spectacular show at Lowlands 2009. They’re back again this month to present their latest release Xapomelön. Tickets for the concert at Tivoli Oudegracht can be bought right here!
The tickets are going fast, but for our most dedicated fans we have two guestlist spots available! Interested? Just email before December 17th to info@tentempies.com why you should be our guest of honour. The winner gets free entrance to the show for him/her +1. After the show, come and have a drink with us, get a free CD or shirt, get crazy!
Read the details of the event over here.
Un abrazo!

Dec 11: Supporting Ojos de Brujo in Paradiso
Filed under: Live gigs | December 6th, 2011
Dear friends! End of this week, Sunday the 11th of December, we are the support act for none other than Barcelona superband Ojos de Brujo! What makes this concert even more special is that it might be the last chance you’ll ever have of seeing this group perform live. After 10 years of making musica mestiza at the highest level (or ‘Jip Jop Flamenkillo’ as they call their style), 5 albums and no less than 7 world tours, Ojos de Brujo has decided to stop. Paradiso will be the final venue in The Netherlands they’ll perform in.
We’re very proud to open the night on this special occasion and hope we can share it with you as well. The tickets for this event (€28,50 + membership) can be bought right here. Tight budget this month? We’ll let you in on a little secret….

New video: Perquisite & Maurino Alarcón – Me Despido
Filed under: Videos | November 17th, 2011
Today marks the release of a new video clip. Not of a TenTemPiés song, but a collaboration between the excellent Dutch producer Perquisite and our lead singer Maurino. For those who haven’t heard about this project before, it’s part of Perquisite’s solo album ‘Across’ which was released last year. The song is appropriately called ‘Me Despido’ (I Say Goodbye), as it is also the last single from that album (available on iTunes).
While in the desert of Tabernas in Spain for another clip shoot, they decided to shoot a one-take video for this song. It turned out really well! The video was made by Derek van Egmond and Ruben Wiegerinck, the same guys who made the video for ‘Leon’. So without further ado, just press play!
PS. Be sure to catch the last ‘Across’ tour show on December 29th at MC Theater, Amsterdam. Maurino will be there as well as several other guest musicians.
